Lars Vilks egged at ‘Mohammad’ lecture

Published: 22 Feb 12 12:47 CET |
Controversial Swedish artist Lars Vilks was forced to dodge eggs thrown by angry audience members while giving a lecture about his Mohammad cartoons and free expression at the University of Karlstad on Tuesday.

”They were also shouting some slogans. We removed them as well as two people who had started shouting back at the 15 (egg throwers). At the time it was a bit tumultuous but the commotion only lasted for about a minute,” said Tommy Lindh of the local police to news agency TT.Vilks was lecturing on freedom of speech at the university on Tuesday evening at the invitation of the university’s association of international affairs (Utrikespolitiska föreningen).

The local Islamic Culture Association (Islamiska kulturföreningen) and Karlstad Young Muslims (Unga muslimer i Karlstad) had called for a boycott of the lecture earlier in the day, writing in a statement that Vilks ”abuses the freedom of speech that we all enjoy and uses it in such a way as to create tension sin society”
Vilks began his lecture bringing up examples of artists who have challenged the boundaries of freedom of speech in different ways, several of whom have been reported to the police and convicted.

Terror Targets Israeli Embassies in Delhi & Tblisi

Terror again in Delhi: the long arm of Iran          Photo: Ynet
More News You Don't Get in Sweden

Iran is the likely culprit in today's intended double disaster. Ynet has the story you won't find in the Swedish media, nor in most of the mainstream media. Pressure is mounting to show Iranians as regular guys who just want their own nuclear bomb, and to depict Israel as evil warmongers...

Israeli missions in India, Georgia targeted

An explosion tore through an Israeli diplomat's car in the vicinity of the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi, India, Monday.

The wife of an Israeli Defense Ministry representative suffered light to moderate wounds in the terror attack.

Israeli Embassy Spokesman David Goldfarb confirmed that an explosion took out a diplomat's car. The injured woman was identified as Tal Yehoshua Koren, the wife of a diplomat stationed with the Defense Ministry's mission in India.

An initial probe into the attack revealed that the envoy's wife left the embassy with her driver after a day of work at the mission in order to pick up her children from school. The explosion took place a short while before she arrived at the school, apparently after a bomb was attached to the vehicle.

Koren managed to call the embassy and report that "the vehicle exploded," before being evacuated to a local hospital in a rickshaw. Officials said she suffered shrapnel wounds to her lower body. The driver of the vehicle was also hurt in the blast.

Indian media outlets reported that two bikers were tailing the car driven by the Israeli diplomat's wife in New Delhi and that at one point one of them "hurled something at the car," which exploded shortly after.

The blast came just one day after the fourth anniversary marking the assassination of Hezbollah arch-terrorist Imad Mugniyah

Sweden and EU Pour €24.7 Mil More into PA

Little House in the West Bank: Thanks for the cash, Sweden!
Sweden is a major funder of the Palestinian Authority, and Swedish officials have admitted there's little or no transparency in the administration of this cash. PA's WAFA news agency reports on yet another chunk of what is not chump change about to pour into salaried PA pockets. Don't forget that "salaries" also include payments to families of terrorists "sadly" sitting in Israeli prisons just because they killed innocent Israelis. Note that cash also goes to the Gaza Strip--hey isn't that Hamas? Aren't they considered a terrorist organization by the EU? Why do Jews fuss over little details like illegal funding of terrorists? (H/T Tundra Tabloids.)

By the way, note that these are just one month's payments. According to an EU press release, 2012 will see an increase of 100 million euros to the Palestinian aid budget. The release states that,
-"MEPs agreed to approve an increase of €100 million in aid to Palestine and 27 million for the development co-operation instrument for Asia and Latin America. They also added €3 million for election observation missions and €3 million for the Turkish-Cypriote Community. To fund this, MEPs cut other lines such as the EU Police Mission in Afghanistan."

As you can see,  PA aid is the major expense listed, and seems to be a priority over fighting terror. If you think you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

EU, Sweden contribute €24.7 million to January salaries

JERUSALEM, February 7, 2012 (WAFA) - The European Union and Sweden Tuesday contributed €24.7 million to the payment of the January salaries and pensions of around 84,300 Palestinian civil servants and pensioners in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, according to an EU press release.

The European Commission made €22.5 million contribution and Sweden made €2.2 million.

The European Commission's contribution comes from the €155 million package of financial assistance to the recurrent expenditures of the Palestinian Authority committed for 2012, said the release.

The European Commission agreed to a request by Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to frontload €116.2 million of this package in the first five months of 2012 in order to help the Palestinian Authority meet its urgent financial needs.

The €2.2 million contribution by the Swedish Government is part of its continuous support to the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian people.

Reepalu: Please Stop Shooting, Please

Reepalu: When it's not "the Jews' fault", be nice!
Well, in a turnaround from previous policies regarding violence in Malmö, Mayor Ilmar Reepalu is now planning a city hall letter-writing campaign to reduce the ongoing attacks in the city. As readers may recall, when violence is directed against Jews in Malmö, Reepalu squarely places the blame on Jewish support for Israel.

Now Reepalu is planning to send open letters to groups in Malmö, asking them nicely to cooperate with city authorities. Isn’t that funny? According to the tactical logic Reepalu applied to anti-Semitic violence, victims should be blamed for having heads which serve as targets for criminal bullets.

Here’s one talkback from the Local that really sums up this story:

-“I think Mr. Reepaly woke up one day and realized, ‘Oh crap ... this violence isn't just effecting Jews anymore!!!’

“Meanwhile the rest of us are sitting here going, ‘no sh!@ sherlock.’"

Someday even Ilmar Reepalu will be able to see that it may start with violence against Jews, but it never ends there.

Schoolgirl Knifed in Gothenburg

Paramedics on scene
 Violence in Sweden Targets 10-Year-Old

Yes, another brutal crime reported today. Fortunately the attacker, an unidentified male in his twenties, failed to kill his young victim. The school stabbing is "the latest in a string of recent knife attacks at schools in Sweden".  According to today's edition of the Local:

A 10-year-old girl had her throat slashed with a knife outside a school in Gothenburg in western Sweden on Monday morning, according to police.

The attack, which occurred outside the Bergsgård school in the Hjällbo district northwest of central Gothenburg, left the girl seriously wounded.

She was taken to Östra Hospital with the knife still in her throat, according to a statement from police, and was later moved to Sahlgrenska Hospital.

Emergency services received a call about the stabbing at 9.51am on Monday morning.

Malmö's New Free Press Society

And it's about time!

Here's an excerpt from a report of the first meeting, which included the beleaguered and occasionally attacked Lars Wilks:

-"...That same evening yet another murder and yet another bombing of a police station were added to the seemingly endless cycle of gangland violence in the Southern Swedish city. The number of unsolved murders in Malmö since last summer now stands at eight and the city has acquired a reputation as the Murder Capital of Northern Europe.
"But despite escalating violence and biting cold, 120 people turned up for the meeting, which was held under the watchful eye of about 20 uniformed and armed police in addition to a number of fierce-looking plainclothes agents that were there to protect the Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who has been the target of several assassination attempts.
"The Swedish journalist Ingrid Carlqvist – the principal organiser of the event – had ample reason to be satisfied as she bid welcome to the audience and speakers:
'This is a historic meeting. [...] We are here to break some taboos and let’s begin with the biggest one of all – Sweden’s immigration policies.'"
Here's to the Free Press Society and free speech! As the government announced only last week that 1900 more immigrants (excluding "refugees") will enter Sweden this year, let's hope FPS succeeds in opening a meaningful dialogue regarding the role of immigrants in Sweden.

Malmö Police Station Bombed

Bombed Malmö Police Station
 Lawless Elements Target Malmö Authorities

A bomb reportedly placed by two men in dark clothing exploded in the early hours of the morning leaving a hole in the Malmö police station building and extensive damage inside. No info yet on who is responsible, but this may be a response to Justice Minister Beatrice Ask's recent statement that extra police forces will be sent to Malmö to prevent it from further spiraling out of control. The Local has the full story.

Swedish Authorities Threaten Chabad Family with Heavy Fines

Jewish Education? Only if you PAY.
Gothenburg School Authorities Push to
Put Chabad Kids into Public School

The Lubavitch/Chabad news online Your Jewish News reports that Chabad Rabbi Alexander Namdar and his wife Leah have been informed by Swedish school authorities in Gothenburg that their children must attend public school or they will be fined $2400 (16,000 SEK) per week. The children currently learn in an online Jewish school framework (among other accomplishments and activities). Putting them into Swedish public school would subject them to the kind of abuse we have detailed here many times.

The Namdars are appealing the decision by Gothenburg authorities to force their children into an inappropriate and potentially dangerous situation. As the article below points out, Sweden is again pretending that anti-Semitism does not exist in Sweden. But there is no reason to put the Namdar kids in danger while Swedish authorities continue to ignore the Jew-hatred happening under their noses.

Thanks to Hadassa De Young for the heads-up.

Sweden forces religious Jewish kids into public school, or face huge fines.

On January 26, Rabbi Alexander and Leah Namdar, Chabad representatives to Sweden, were served at their home with a notice by Gothenburg’s school authorities: Four of their children presently studying at an international online school must be delivered to a Swedish school by February 1. Failure to do so may result in a fine of 16000 crown—the equivalent of $2400 per week.
The notice came following a change in Sweden’s law January 1st that tightened restrictions on homeschooling, permitting it only in “extraordinary” circumstances. Religious reasons were explicitly excluded as a valid reason.

According to Richard Backenroth, the attorney representing the Namdars in their court battle against Gothenburg’s school authorities, the case will be a critical test of Sweden’s record on religious freedom. European law protects the religious freedom of its citizens, but with this action, Sweden is effectively denying the Namdars this right.
“This is a stain on the reputation of a country that takes pride in equality as a fundamental value,” says Rabbi Namdar who, like his wife, regards education as their “highest priority.”
Backenroth, who is appealing the notice and its “exorbitant fine” which came while the Namdars’ case is still pending, told lubavitch.com that “Sweden’s schools cannot possibly accommodate the needs of the Namdar children with respect to their religious requirements.”

Moreover, the law, which challenges the right of parents to home school their children, should not be applied to the Namdar children, he insists, because they are in fact, being educated “in a normal online school along with 500 international students,” as well as through private tutoring, yet Gothenburg school authorities are choosing to ignore this.

Lawless in Malmö--Eighth Fatal Shooting in Recent Days

As the Local reports yet another fatal shooting has shocked the city. One man was shot dead as he sat in his car last night.

When will the city authorities act to prevent violent and lethal crime on the streets?

From the Local:

“I heard three bangs and now the place is crawling with police with automatic weapons. I saw them carry a person out to an ambulance and try to resuscitate him,” the witness told the local Sydsvenskan newspaper.
